Shaza was great to talk to. After chatting with her, she followed up with me on my points of interest and helped me to come up with a loose plan for my 4 day stay in Istanbul. Highly recommended chatting with her if you get a chance.
How are Locals selected?
The team conducts a screening call with each prospective Local to ensure that they are knowledgeable about their respective cities and are personable and excited to share that knowledge with others. All Locals have lived in the city they are representing for at least one year. When possible, we seek Locals with previous tourism experience. Ongoing training and feedback from other Travelers ensures that the Locals are always professional and prepared to help you plan your trip.

We recommend that you come to the call with some ideas on what you would like to do or see in the city so the Local can provide more specific recommendations and you can make the call as meaningful as possible.
Are all the Locals originally from the city they are representing?
No, not all of the Locals are originally from the city they are representing. You could talk to an American living in Paris or an Australian living in London. However, all of the Locals currently live in the city and have lived there for at least one year.
